Practical experience.
Personal guidance.
A mentor in your corner
You bring your own experience, questions and ambitions. I’ll take the time to understand them, so as your mentor I support you to be the broker — and business owner — you want to become.
Together, we’ll connect what you’re learning to the work in front of you: a lending scenario, your first submissions, or the next step in building your business.
We’ll meet on Zoom every fortnight, usually for an hour, with weekly meetings when you need them. Bring your questions, scenarios and the things you’re finding challenging.
You can contact me by phone and email between our sessions. I’m generally available during business hours, with some flexibility outside those hours by arrangement.
I’ll review your first 12 loan submissions before you send them to lenders, helping you understand the reasoning behind the feedback and apply it to your next submission.
Personal guidance + structured learning
My two-year mentoring program combines personal guidance with the Mr Mentor Residential Broker Program. You get structured learning and someone to help you put it into practice.

I’m an MFAA Endorsed Mentor based in Sunnybank, Brisbane. I work with new mortgage brokers across Australia, offering the kind of practical, patient guidance that helps the learning make sense.
Moving from mining into mortgage broking meant learning a new industry and finding my feet as a business owner. I bring that experience to my mentoring, with patience for the questions and uncertainty that come with getting started.
My family is a big part of why I do what I do. Away from work, you’ll find me spending time with my wife and sons, exploring local markets and national parks, or heading to the beach — often with my camera.
In their own words
I have recently concluded my two-year mentoring period with Brendan Barker and found as a new to industry broker with no prior banking or finance industry experience Brendan was patient enough at the outset to ensure I did not quit while encouraging enough to push me to learn and grow at a pace that I was comfortable with. His technical knowledge in terms of lender policy, compliance, best practice and business process is extensive and his ability to convey the complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner was particularly beneficial for me as a new broker.
Brendan was always there to answer my questions and assist with both structuring a deal and ensuring our compliance requirements were met. I would have no hesitation in recommending Brendan to other potential mentees.
My experience with Brendan's Mentoring Program was amazing and he has taken me through the right path to succeed in my career. I am overall very satisfied with the outcome.
Getting started
I’m currently accepting new mentees. I primarily mentor brokers within the LMG group, with other aggregators considered case by case.
